M20 The Trifid Nebula


Details

M20 or the Trifid Nebula is both, an emission and reflection nebula. It is called Trifid because clouds of interstellar dust divide the center part of the nebula into three parts. The catalog entry M20 or Messier 20 is given to the nebula as well as the star cluster. Its also catalogued as NGC 6514.

Remarks
A Coma Corrector was used to enhance the performance of the telescope. Unfortunately the distance between corrector lens and the cameras chip was slightly off, leading to some trail shaped stars in the corner of the image.
