Southern CrossCoalsack

Details

The Southern Cross or Crux is kind of symbolic for the nightsky viewed from the southern hemisphere. So even in some national flags of countries of the southern hemisphere you can find the southern cross as a symbol. Have a closer look to the australian and brasilian flag, and you will notice. In this image you also see some open clusters like the Jewel Box a.k.a NGC 4755 and on the left the Dark Doodad also known as Sandqvist 149.
