Pismis4 and Vela SNR

Pismis4 and the Vela SNR
The Vela Supernova Remnant is a huge nebula in the constellation Vela, which can be easily observed from the southern hemisphere in winter and spring. To be able to photograph the whole nebula, you would have to use a telephoto lens at most. Even the comparatively short focal length of 500 mm only shows a section. I have chosen the area around the open star cluster Pismis 4 here, as particularly clear filament structures can be seen there. The image was taken with a DuoNarrowband filter and a color CMOS camera, hence the red-blue color mapping. I have created another color mapping that is somewhat more based on the well-known Hubble palette.
