The Wishing Well Cluster NGC 3532


Details

NGC 3532 better known as the Wishing Well Cluster, is an open star cluster in the constellation of Carina. The cluster shows many blue O and B Type stars, but also some red giant stars. When the Hubble Space Telescope had it´s first light in 1990, a star field within this cluster was choosen as the target. Other trivial names for the cluster are: Pincushion Cluster, Football Cluster or Black Arrow Cluster.
The Cluster is located between the Eta Carina Nebula and the Statue of Liberty Nebula. There is some nebulosity surrounding the cluster.
