IC1396 Elephant Trunk
Details
IC1396 is a H-II region in the constellation of Cepheus. A remarkable feature is the dark globule at the bottom, IC1396A, also called Elephants Trunk. The bright orange star, M Cephei, is also called Herschels Garnet Star. Herschel described its garnet appearance in his observations, hence the name.
