Sigma Octantis


Details

Dark clouds of interstellar dust around the southern pole. Some prominent objects of the southern milkyway are visible in the right part of the image. But mostly you see interstellar dust like the chamaeleon molecular cloud or the Dark Doodad. Sigma Octantis is visible in the left part of the image. This picture was featured as APOD on June 28th 2018.
